Brunei

Brunei’s most important external partners are Malaysia and Singapore, followed by China. The United States ranks a distant eighth. Former colonial power the United Kingdom is the second-most important source of cultural influence after Malaysia. Brunei hosts a garrison of the British Armed Forces and a jungle warfare training facility of the Singapore Armed Forces, with Singapore being its most important defence partner. While China is the most important economic influence overall, Singapore ranks second on this measure, and the two countries have an unusual currency interchangeability agreement. A small country, Brunei does not rank in the top ten partners for any of its neighbours.
